It uses one-on-one coaching to increase participants’ use of a relational coaching leadership style and enhance their abilities to coach others. The one-on-one coaching sessions provide a direct experience of coaching whilst targeting ongoing leadership development. Why a relational coaching leadership style? Leading edge practice suggests that this style of leadership is the most effective over time. Why use coaching to build this capability? Research indicates executive coaching is one of the most effective development strategies for business leaders. Approaches to coaching:
What is the time commitment? Each one-on-one coaching session lasts for approximately of 1.5 hours. What happens during the one-on-one coaching session? The overall aim is to build the leader’s ability to coach others so as to improve and develop workplace performance. Typically, sessions focus on issues related to leadership styles, how his or her team members are coached and the impact coaching has on business performance. There are three main areas of focus: 1) personal leadership 2) team leadership 3) leading for business results. How confidential are the discussions? Coaching is completely confidential. The coach will not divulge any information without your express permission. The coach may be asked to report on the general nature of the coaching and discuss broad organisational trends; however personal details will remain confidential. The aim of these conversations would be to track and enhance the effectiveness of the overall coaching process. Where does the coaching happen? Typically sessions are conducted at the coach’s office, although alternative arrangements can be made.
