Team Coaching - Questions and Answers No man is an island entire unto himself’ John Donne At a Glance A team coach provides objective facilitation and feedback to support a team’s development of internal and external relationships that are a necessary part of highly effective teams. Major organisational changes such as restructuring and rapid growth can be highly disruptive for teams. A team coach supports the team and its members in a manner that minimises negative impact and often uses the change process to further the process of team growth. By supporting an environment where effective communication (the key to successful change) is the norm a team coach encourages all members to unite so as to reach their clearly articulated goals and objectives. How does team coaching work? All teams are unique so programmes are designed specifically to reflect individual needs. However, it is crucial that all teams have a membership alliance and the initial stages of team development are based around this central point. Why use a Team Coach? In a non-judgmental, confidential and ethical environment the team coach encourages superlative performance by facilitating the team’s adoption of the ongoing process of constant improvement of internal functioning. This is done by strengthening communication, furthering trust and respect and setting goals that align with the organisations visions and values. Each member is held accountable for reaching his or her goals and is provided with whatever coaching support is necessary. What is the time Commitment? Each team is different but typically there would be requirements for workshops and one-on-one coaching.
